Reduce peak loads with our pioneering PCM storage systems
Conventional storage heaters reach their limits when it comes to compact design, high capacity and efficiency. Our Compact Cells offer an advanced alternative: high storage capacity with a minimal footprint.
Problems caused by high peak loads:
- Increased energy demand and grid overload at peak times
- Oversized generation plants and high connected loads
- High operating costs due to additional generation capacity
Our solution: Decentralized heat storage with maximum efficiency
By installing additional storage capacity in existing - often older - buildings, decentralized inertia can be retrofitted into the district heating network. Our solution - the Cowa COMPACT Cell as a buffer and/or domestic hot water storage tank - enables simple, decentralized installation. Thanks to their compact design, the cylinders can be installed without any structural measures. Thanks to the modular design, the stored energy can be used in a targeted manner, e.g. for heating the building during the preparation of domestic hot water. This allows the heat supply for heating and hot water to be decoupled, which enables a peak load reduction of up to 40 %.
Advantages of our thermal storage
High storage capacity
Up to 75 kWh/m³ storage capacity and the cubic design allow up to 64 kWh to be placed on just one square meter - the highest energy densities on the market.

Modular
The modular design enables simple and flexible scaling of the storage capacity - ideal for retrofitting in existing buildings in order to place decentralized storage units in the district heating network.

High performance
With a charging capacity (primary) of 20 kW and a discharging capacity (secondary) of up to 50 kW, the COMPACT Cell is an extremely powerful thermal storage unit. The integrated Double Circuit HEX with two physically separate circuits enables simultaneous charging and discharging.

Stratification free
Thanks to the special physical properties of the phase change, the storage medium remains temperature-stable with a maximum temperature delta of just 2 K - for long, continuous and even heat dissipation.

Long-term stability
With a service life of over 20 years and more than 10,000 charging cycles, the storage capacity remains stable in the long term. The Cowa COMPACT Cell therefore offers maximum storage capacity for a long-lasting and cost-effective district heating connection with minimal maintenance costs.
